Always live each day bright and happy.

My name is Jenifer Ann and I live in Perth, Western Australia. I was diagnosed with epilepsy when I was ten years old, my family had no understanding of what epilepsy was and I had no idea what was happening to my body. I have always had a bright and cheerful personality and I have always aimed high and been successful in achieving my goals, I am now in my early 30’s and I have been seizure free for over two years using medication.

For drug addicts, Xanax was an easily accessible pharmacy drug, until they started to sell it only by prescription. Due to the narcotic effect of Xanax (and despite its price, which is higher than that of its analogues), it is misused more often than other drugs.

The type of seizures I experience are tonic-clonic seizures with an aura, I have had to take tests such as an EEG, MRI and try different types of medications before finding success. I believe that I have become an incredibly strong minded woman because of what I have had to face with epilepsy. In my 20-plus years experience with epilepsy I have had to over come many dark challenges such as bullying, anxiety and isolation to name just a few.

I found that I was able to help myself and help my family have a better understanding of epilepsy by talking openly about my experience with epilepsy and how it makes me feel. I read heaps of epilepsy books which I find very interesting and I am about to publish my very own epilepsy book. I choose to always keep my life beautiful, positive and bright no matter what challenges come my way. Epilepsy is very individual and very different for every person, for me keeping a healthy lifestyle, communicating well and having a bright out look on life helped me so much.

I have always had a huge interest in medicine, a huge passion for helping people and I am always looking to further my knowledge of epilepsy, I want to help others understand epilepsy and further epilepsy awareness. I have created an Epilepsy Page online to share information, experiences and fundraising events, my ultimate goal is to help towards and see a cure in my lifetime. Please feel free to check out my Epilepsy Page, everyone is welcome and the link is provided below.
